On Wednesday I spent the morning at Hogle Zoo with my boys, my cousin Camille and her son Jackson. It was a perfect day to go to the zoo. There weren't too many people there and the weather was comfortable and cool. My favorite animal of the day had to be the baby elephant. He was so stinkin cute. After eating and cuddling with his momma he climbed up on a giant ball and posed for the crowd of people for about 5 minutes. He looked like a tiny circus elephant. I have more pictures of animals than I do of my kids this trip because Jordan is getting very difficult to take pictures of. He was being quite the stinker that day. Also, I didn't bring Sam's pacifier with us and he is teething so he was extra grumpy. He did pose for this picture, but mostly because I told him to do a pull up so we could see his big muscles.
This is Jordan growling at the bears--they are his favorite animal at the moment.
Then there was this cutie. He stood in that awkward stance for a few minutes. Doesn't look very comfortable so I don't know what he was doing. I love his knobby knees!!
Looking at the two huge turtles. Jordan loved them.
Camille saved the day with a biter biscuit for Sam. It kept him busy for awhile, but like any biter buscuit it made a huge mess.
Jordan was so excited to ride the train.
Sam, on the other hand, did not like the train. At all!
I love seeing these two together. They are exactly a year apart, so it's fun to remember what Jordan was like a year ago, and look forward to what Jackson will be like in a year. So Camille, when you go back to the zoo in a year look forward to this:
P.S. Thanks for the fun morning Camille, let's do it again soon!!
We had a Hadfield family dance party........ It might not look like it, but Jordan loves dance parties and was dancing the whole time. He loves them so much we have dance parties daily. Sam, on the other hand did not enjoy this dance party.
Benji tells Jordan stories every night. Made up stories. About anything Jordan wants. Lets be honest, they're almost always about waterfalls. But every story is different and fun.
Lately Jordan will tell mini stories about what he's doing. "Once upon a time, Jordan was eating breakfast." "Once upon a time, there was a fast choo-choo train." "Once upon a time, I played basketball."
Benji went fishing this morning in Mantua and came home with some awesome pictures of clouds, and I had to post them. These cool clouds covered the entire sky--he stood in one spot and took the pictures in every direction.
Then later that day Benji took Jordan back to Mantua for his turn-out to look at waterfalls.
Do you think Jordan will be embarrassed when he looks back at pictures of him doing his big, strong smile? I'm not sure, but I think I'll miss when he stops making that face for pictures (even if it is frustrating sometimes, can't I have ONE picture with a normal smile...haha)
Then they went and picked out penny candy at the Mantua general store.
We went and spent some time on our friend's farm on Saturday. Jordan loved the big tractor and the farm house.
The day before we went to the farm Jordan kept talking about how excited he was for the rides at the farm. I thought he was just talking about the ride on the tractor, but after he kept talking about the train ride, and helicopter ride we realized the only farm he knows is Knott's Berry Farm. Such a California boy!!
He was just his usual good-natured self the entire appointment. The doctor laughed when he asked me if Sam is making noise and communicating with me because he was already smiling at the doctor and babbling away. Sam had four shots today and didn't even start crying until the third one. Tough boy.
I loved the Pediatrician we saw. He was so nice, and took the time to get to know each of us. He used to work in St. Bernadine's hospital in San Bernardino, where Sam was born.
At the end of our appointment the Dr. let me know that the Health Department just got a new shipment of H1N1 shots, so we went over there after Sam's appointment. It was crazy, we walked in, and were out in 10 minutes. I'm glad we didn't worry about waking up at 5 to go stand in lines for it.
We had to come home and take pictures of all of the band-aids we got today.
I couldn't get a picture that showed all of Sam's band-aids. Poor kid had 5 shots total today.
Jordan was so proud of his band-aid. He kept telling me he was so brave and has been referring to his band-aid as, "a beautiful, cool, parachute band-aid."
I tried to get a picture of both of them together, but Sam attacked.
On our way to our Halloween party I realized I didn't have the memory card in my camera, so for now these are the only two pictures I have. Jordan and Sam pictures will be coming shortly. We had a fun evening with our family. We went to Tremonton, Utah and Jordan went trick-or-treating with his cousins. Unfortunately, he was being naughty most of the time and after multiple warnings I had to take him home. I'm not sure if he was tired, uncomfortable in his costume or just being a two year old, but I think I was more disappointed in having to go then he was. I think I had expectations on how today was going to go--Jordan was going to smile for the camera when we wanted to take pictures of him in his costume, he was going to go house to house and be so excited to trick-or-treat, and he was not going to complain and cry about everything, but none of that happened. Anyway, I shouldn't complain because despite all of that I had a great Halloween, I just need to remember not to get frustrated when Jordan is acting like a pill...he just acts worse because he knows he's getting to me. Man, I used to be a patient, good-natured mother!
Here's a funny moment I had with Jordan when I was carrying him to my sister-in-law's house, he started crying even harder when he saw the moon, he sobbed, "I want to go to the.....moooooooon!"
I helped throw a baby shower for my good friend Stephanie last Saturday. I'm not going to add a lot of pictures because she hasn't seen them yet, but here is one of my mom, sister, Sam, Stephanie and me.Stephanie is the cutest pregnant woman I've ever seen--that isn't even an exaggeration. If only I looked that cute two weeks before my due date. I start looking like the Michelin man.
Blah, you know those days where you wish you had more time to get ready. That was one of those days. Just don't focus on my face or my flat, lifeless hair and take a gander at the diaper cake I made. I am pretty happy with how it turned out!
And last but not least, I had to add this cute picture of my mom and Sammy. What cuties.
