Still alive and having fun!

I have been dying to blog for the past few weeks, but we are visiting family and one house doesn't have internet and the other doesn't have our pictures on the computer. I have a hard time blogging without pictures. We have been having a great time with our family in Utah. It's nice to have Benji's full attention now that boards are over! Jordan now thinks it is normal to open presents everyday and thinks his new bedtime is 10 or 11. Blah.

Well, I am excited to blog soon.

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

I slept in Needles...

I don't want to make this a long boring story, so I'll just tell the basics. We left for Utah on Wednesday afternoon and didn't make it far because every freeway, highway, or street leading to Utah was closed. We ended up in Needles, California after 9 hours of driving, which was pretty frustrating because it's actually only about three hours into the trip.

We found a lovely motel called Desert Mirage, it was basically like a five star resort, here are a few pictures of the beauty.

Okay, so it was pretty gross, but it had a bed (without bed bugs) and it was warm.

Jordan slept on the bed with us, which was NOT fun. He moves around more than I would have ever guessed. Benji had feet in his face most of his night, at least I ended up with Jordan's arms and face. I discovered a few funny facts about Jordan's sleeping behavior that I probably would have never known. Occasionally he will sit up in the middle of the night and say a cool word. He said, brush, basketball, and waterfall at different times during the night only to lie back down and fall asleep right after.

We woke up in the morning to beautiful blue skies and sunshine. We were thinking maybe our traveling luck had changed and we would actually get to Utah. We packed up and left our hotel room at about 9:30. Everything was going great and then we hit some traffic and stopped....and we stayed stopped for three hours. There was a bad accident on the highway and they closed it down to clean it up and to plow the roads. At first it was funny to see people get out of their cars to play in the snow, and then it became the only thing to do to pass the time. Once we started moving again we passed over 20 snowmen on the side of the highway. Jordan got to play in the snow for a few hours and that made him happy. It was fun to say I played in the snow on the side of a highway, but I'd prefer to never do it again.Jordan touching snow for the first time.
Notice the sled in the background.

So, we eventually made it to Utah even though it was 32 hours later then we planned. We really appreciate all of the prayers and support from our loving family. I've learned that when you pray for good driving conditions your prayer may be answered, but not the way you ever expected. We are happy to be safe and happy we aren't in Needles. The end.

Make a note

of where your breaker box is. We tripped the breaker last night, and spent 30-40 minutes searching for it in the dark. We've never had to deal with it before, so how were we to know it was located outside. I guess now I can go hang all of my pictures back up, and move my furniture to it's original position.

Santa isn't cool

Jordan doesn't like him. I'm not surprised.

Our white elephant gift

Okay, so most of you already know this, but Benji and I received a crab as a white elephant gift. I think we were the only people in the room that wanted to take the little guy home. Honestly though, who couldn't love a face like this....
Benji was pretty excited to have a tasty crab for lunch, and since pregnant women aren't supposed to eat shell fish he got the whole jimmy (that's what they call a male crab) to himself.

In good old Crane fashion, here is the after picture.

Pooh and Poop

Jordan recently has become very interested in Winnie the Pooh. We went to the grocery store a few days ago, and they have a Pooh airplane ride outside of the store. Jordan saw it and said, "POOH!" He was so excited. I'm pretty sure he recognizes him from the Disneyland ride, but I didn't think he was paying attention when we were on it. Anyway, now wherever we go he points out Pooh. (Because that bear is everywhere, seriously!)Jordan has also started telling us when he is about to poop, which I am so excited about! Sometimes he will tell me right after it happens, sometimes while he's doing it, but lately it's just before. I'm not sure if he's all the way ready to potty train and I don't want to start too early, but it just seems like the perfect opportunity to start trying. We'll see what happens....

My tender hearted boy

I'm not sure if all little kids are like this, but Jordan is such a sensitive, tender boy. He hates violence of any kind (including football) and he hates yelling. He doesn't mind loud noises, such as Disneyland rides or loud music, it's mostly just yelling. Yesterday he was bawling after Benji showed me a video of a guy throwing a table in anger and as I was consoling him I asked if he was going to be the peacemaker in our home and he said yes, so maybe his tender heart will come in handy later on. It's funny because I can see a lot of me in him--I was a very sensitive little girl. I would cry if people would laugh at cute things I did, because I thought they were laughing at me. At least I'll know how he's feeling, and how to make him feel better. Maybe this will all change when he's no longer an only child...

Blue Bonnet

Try to explain to a grumpy, crying, hungry toddler that this package doesn't actually contain cookies...and stay sane. I dare you!

The Disney Ninja

I bet you didn't know that Friday was a holiday. I sure knew. I heard all about it all week from my excited husband. Friday was the Day of the Ninja. We had to do something pretty cool to celebrate such an awesome occasion, so we went to Disneyland.

This is how Benji celebrated the special day. Can you find the ninja?

Ninja Benji is saving scared little Jordan from all of the aliens.

We had so much fun, but couldn't believe how stinkin' busy it was! We were able to get on a lot of rides and even see a few shows, but it still was crazy! There were periods of time where we couldn't even move because of how many people there were. They had everything decorated for Christmas and of course it was magnificent and over the top! Disney goes all out for holidays! There was even snow! Jordan loved it!

Looking at the ducks.
On the airplane ride with dad.
Same ride...hello close up!!
We're flying!!!
Jordan loves the waterfalls!

It's tough to be a bug 3-D show.
Jordan found his favorite letter!

After dinner Jordan got a cupcake. Yummmm!

Magic Disney snow!!
