Hey look! I found my hAAAAAAAAAAAAnd!!!

I stumbled across this funny old video of Jordan. He went through a short phase when he was about 6 months old where he would yell at his hand. First, here is a picture...

Now the video. You might want to check the volume on your computer first. This is very loud and very annoying. It's like the line in the movie Dumb and Dumber, "Wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" Here you go....

We're happy it was a short phase.

A very happy birthday

I feel old. I know I shouldn't, but I do. 25? 25. 25......
Maybe I'll get used to it soon.

The day was great! It started out with a special birthday surprise from Jordan. He slept in until 9! He's been sick, and he definitely needed the sleep. I, on the other hand, felt like a lazy shlub and I felt a little guilty, but it still was nice to sleep in that late, so I'm sure I'll get over it. I had a pretty normal day except I only did the bare minimum in cleaning. I gave myself the day off, or partially off. If you could see what Jordan is capable of doing to my front room in just a few hours you would know why!

I ran to the grocery store to get a few things, and when I returned the mail had already arrived. I received so many cards and gifts from friends and family. What a great surprise! Thank you to everyone!

Later on, Benji and I went to the Cheesecake Factory for a lovely date. I've never been there, but have heard great things, so I was excited to go. I was excited to get pictures of me with a decadent cheesecake and a picture with my dear husband, but alas, I'm a doofus and left the memory card at home. So here are a few pictures of me with my dear baby boy after we arrived home....This is Jordan's answer and reaction to me asking for a kiss. Basically a big NO WAY!

The rest of my birthday brownie sundae cheesecake.

dubba dubba

Jordan has been very chatty since we went to the beach on Saturday. He enjoyed it so much that it's all he can talk about. Today in the car he talked for about 5 minutes straight. For the words he didn't know he would substitute "dubba" in their place. So here was the basic conversation:

"Dubba dubba beach. Dubba sand....hair. Funny Jordy Dubba. Dubba dubba dubba dubba waterfall. Dubba dubba dubba kite! Dubba PLANE! Dubba beach."

It was funny how annimated he was getting while telling me. Jordan thinks he was so funny for putting sand in his hair, and is now referring to himself as "funny Jordy."

We also saw someone flying a kite at the beach and Jordan's been on the look out for another one. He's constantly looking to the sky looking for the kite. We're planning on pulling ours out and going to the park after his nap. I didn't tell him we have one because I knew he wouldn't sleep if he knew. He's in for a great treat this afternoon! :)

I hope they call me on a mission

The other day Benji asked Jordan where he was going to go on his mission and Jordan answered, "Beach.....sand.....temple." We decided to go visit a place that has all three, so today we went to Newport Beach. We had so much fun. It was a wonderful relaxing way to spend a Saturday. Jordan loved every minute of it and now you can see how much fun he had because Benji finally figured out how to put our videos on the computer! (It's a little tricky getting the aspect ratio right with our camera. This is Benji typing now, editing the post. I just didn't want everyone thinking I couldn't do a simple task like uploading a video. Back to you Melissa.)
Well, Newport Beach, watch for Elder Hadfield in about 17 years!

Benji ceremoniously received his white coat tonight.
Congrats Benjamin Hadfield D.D.S.!

Double Boo

I bought Jordan a movie that was highly recommended to me by a few friends. It's called Leap Frog Letter Factory. It's a cute movie that teaches the letters and the sounds they make. I initially bought it because it's short, so when Jordan asked for a movie he wasn't watching a two hour movie and as an added bonus it's educational and fun. Right away Jordan loved his "froggy" movie and watched it everyday. I didn't expect results so quickly or any results at all, but Jordan now recognizes most letters and knows all of their sounds. I was shocked when he pointed out the "double boo" on his Winnie the Pooh movie so I started quizzing him only to become more shocked at how much information he actually retained from the movie! I want to post a video of him soon, but we have to figure out how to get them on our computer first!

I recommend this movie to any parents with toddlers or preschool age children. It's incredible!

It happens....

This may not be blog-appropriate, but Jordan just pooped in the potty for the first time. He's starting to tell us when he needs to use the potty, which is awesome, but I was really hoping to wait to potty train until after the baby comes.

As soon as Jordan flushed the potty and saw everything go down, he wanted to try to go poop one more time. He was very excited.

Valentine's breakfast

It's kind of freaky to eat a red waffle, but they look cool, right!? Jordan loved watching me mix the food coloring in the batter. He kept saying, "wed faffle, wed faffle!"

Valentine's Day

I wanted to start the tradition of going to the temple with Benji on Valentine's day, but because I couldn't find a babysitter and we can't really afford a babysitter anyway we went and took pictures outside of the temple with Jordan. Jordan enjoys going to the temple because it has a lot of "waterfalls." Really it has a lot of fountains, but it's all the same to him.Benji's showing Jordan the bench we were sitting on when Benji proposed, but Jordan wasn't interested.

Benji and I agreed to not get gifts for each other, but we did enjoy lunch at Ruby Tuesday. Really it was just nice to spend time with him since he's been in Washington D.C. all week.

I had a great day with my two favorite guys! Love you both! Happy Valentine's Day!

My handsome Valentine!

He's gonna be a heartbreaker!

(This is a suit I picked up at a yard sale for 50 cents! Jordan was 3 months old at the time, but I couldn't pass it up and now it fits!)

Food Storage

I found this awesome website and had to share. It's called foodstoragemadeeasy.net. They have a great option of signing up for food storage baby steps. They email you every other week with a checklist of things to buy or do. I've only received two emails, but I am so impressed that I have to share with the world. So far I've gathered all of our important documents, numbers, passwords, account numbers, some money, etc. and put them in a binder, and I've been working on 72-hour kits. They have easy to follow directions, and even have a few tutorial videos to watch. If any of you are needing to get started on your food storage, this is a GREAT place to start. Highly recommended.

Rainy Days

First of all, I have to say I told Benji he could wear his stupid "coolest shirt in the world" if 200 people became fans of it on Facebook. Well, he has some pretty loyal friends because it's working. I also have to add that I love nerdy things, I consider myself to be quite nerdy, but that shirt has crossed the nerdy line. It's like something a 40 year old, still living with mom and dad, 15 hours on the internet a day, socially awkward guy would wear. I know that isn't who I married and it makes me sick to see him wear it. (Shallow, I know. And yes, I am pouting!)

Oh well, I promised. I'll get over it. I love him.

Next, it's been rainy and cold here for a few days which means a lot of indoor play. Jordan doesn't like art projects, and my house is too tiny to run around in, so we've been heading to the mall everyday to get out and play. There is a little playground there and Jordan thinks it's pretty cool, plus I have been walking laps around the mall after he's done playing so I can get my exercise in for the day. I love it because Jordan gets worn out while we are there, so he goes down easily for his nap.

Well, here are some pictures of him playing today. They would have been a lot better, but I didn't move from the spot I was in and every time I would be looking in the view finder ready to take a picture of Jordan a little girl (always the same one) would step in front of Jordan. Keep in mind she was staring right at me, I think she wanted her picture taken.
Jordan hasn't been able to find the blimp flying around lately, so Benji made him one last night. Jordan slept with it.

The Coolest Shirt in the World

Some of you heard about 'the coolest shirt in the world' last night, and we both thought we better introduce the thing into society. This is the shirt that is both Benji's prized possession and the article of Benji's clothing that I would love to get rid of it. I hate it. He loves it. Here IT is.
For the full (and better) story check out Benji's blog.

What makes a good movie?

We just watched a movie that was a little bit depressing and when it was done Benji said,

"Wouldn't it have been a better movie if his mom didn't die and his parents had a good marriage and he had a good life and he grew up and went to college and joined some good clubs and there were some unexpected twists, but everyone had a good time?"

So basically Benji thinks his life would make a good movie.

Just a trip to Walmart

In testimony meeting on Sunday, someone was saying how grateful they are for the knowledge that everyone is a child of God. Knowing this makes it easier to love those around us, even those people we hate, or the ones that cut us off in traffic. I don't know why, but that little statement was what I remembered most from sacrament meeting. Today, just barely in fact, I was driving to Walmart and got cut off 7 times. NO JOKE! The first time wasn't too bad, and after remembering what I heard in sacrament meeting it actually kind of made me giggle. By the 6th cut-off I was happy that I remembered the simple truth given over the pulpit on Sunday, because I was getting frustrated. At one point I wanted to yell, but because of what I was thinking about it was hard to. I was able to teach a good lesson to my son and I felt less stressed and frustrated, even if it was a simple trip to Walmart. I too am grateful for the knowledge that everyone is loved by our Heavenly Father, that we are brothers and sisters, and that we are all children of God.

One last time

Yesterday we went to Disneyland for the last time in awhile. Our passes expire on Sunday and it was our last opportunity to go. We spent the entire day there and went on all of our favorite rides so I think we're set for awhile. Jordan mostly likes the waterfalls and the slide in Goofy's playground anyway, so I think we'll be just fine.
