Cabin trip

A few weeks ago we were able to go spend the weekend at my brother-in-law's cabin in Victor, Idaho. We had so much fun and spent a lot of time sledding, snowmobiling, eating snow, and relaxing. Unfortunately, Sam spent most of his time throwing up. We were there right in the middle of his 18 day stomach flu mess, but we thought he would be fine because he didn't throw up a few days before we left. Anyway, we ended up leaving Victor late on Saturday night to take Sam to the emergency room in Tremonton, Utah. We were afraid if he got worse we would have to rush him somewhere in Idaho and we were worried about insurance. Well, we reached Tremonton at about 3:30 in the morning and didn't get home until after 4. We were so tired and grateful that our kids slept a lot the next day. I'm so grateful for my in-laws for being so nice and driving us home and for the purple bowl we had in the car. That's all I'm going to say about that.
Even though Sam was sick he (and hopefully the rest of us) still had a fabulous time. Jordan got over his fear of the snowmobiles and had Benji take him out whenever he had the chance. He loved that I would bundle him up in snow clothes and he could go explore around the cabin with his cousin Jake when ever he wanted.

Valentine Bear

Jordan and I were walking through Walmart the other day when we passed the Valentine's Day displays. Jordan saw a very cute bear holding a heart. He giggled and said, "That bear took his heart out."

New helicopter

Benji bought a little remote control helicopter for him and the boys to enjoy. So far Jordan loves it and Sam is terrified of it. It didn't help that the helicopter crash landed in Sam's lap on one of the first flights.
Okay, so maybe even the bravest boys get a little nervous when the helicopter gets too close...

Jordan was so sweet, he offered to hold Sam so he wouldn't be scared.

Sick sick sick

I was with my friend the other day and made the comment, "We've been so lucky that we haven't gotten sick this winter." That night Sam threw up for the first time. That was January 11th. Then he started throwing up every night after that. He would act fine during the day and still had a fine appetite, but at night everything would come up. Then he got worse and was soon throwing up everything he ate or drank. I started getting a little worried about him getting dehydrated because it had been over 24 hours since he had kept anything down so we took him to the ER at 3:30 in the morning--that was on January 20th. The Dr. gave him some Zofran, which helped him keep down some water, pedialite and some crackers. He told me to go to his regular pediatrician if he was throwing for the next two days. Well, for the next three days he continued to throw up and have diarrhea, so I took him to his pediatrician and had him checked out. Everything seemed alright, but he told me if he was throwing up for the next two days to bring him back. So basically I got the same advice from each doctor. :) I guess when you have a sick kid the advice is to wait two days?
Anyway, he kept throwing up. He was back to only throwing up at night and I was getting tired. And my laundry pile was now a mountain. And my back hurt from carrying Sam everywhere because he didn't have the energy to walk. But we made it. He threw up for the last time on January 29th and he seems to be doing much better now! (Thank goodness!) So, my poor kid was sick with the stomach flu for 18 days! I'm glad he is better.


One morning I had to get a picture of him when he woke up because he had crazy bed head and for some reason his stork bite that he had at birth showed up again on his forehead.

Jordan got sick too, but it only lasted a few days. Here was our sick day jammie party.

Sam was pretty lethargic and would often just fall asleep where ever he was sitting.

Dewey vs. kids

My kids wanted to go outside to pet Dewey, but he decided hiding in a tree was more desirable than getting lots of loves from two toddler boys. Maybe he still remembers this?

Highlights of preschool week 3

The theme was blue. We had fun learning that blue is a primary color, that if it's mixed with yellow it makes green and if it's mixed with red it makes purple. We learned that blue can mean that you are sad and it's also a kind of music.

For a science project we put carnations in water dyed with blue food coloring. When I asked Jordan what he thought would happen if we put the flowers in the blue water he said, "they will drink the blue water and turn blue!"

And he was right!

At the end of the week we decided to dye the other white flower green.

We made blue cupcakes another day
For a large muscle/math activity I made blue circles with a number on it. I turned on music and the boys had to dance around the room, when the music stopped they had to step on one of the circles. We figured out what number was on the circle and then we turned the circle over because there were directions for something else they had to do (jump 4 times, wave your arms in the air 10 times, kick your leg 7 times, etc...)

For large muscle on another day we did blue ribbon dancing. (They LOVED this!)

This is the best dance party picture I have ever taken. It makes me laugh. What is Sam doing? Better yet, what is Jordan doing? Haha

For a sensory/science project we made blue goop (corn starch and water). Jordan played with this stuff for hours. Seriously. And then I tried it out and I played with it for hours. It is cool stuff.

We also made lower case b with cut up paint sample cards that I used at the beginning of my lesson to introduce blue.

First turn-out

Sam went on his first turn-out with Benji last Saturday. They went to Walmart and rode on the Clifford the Dog ride and played the Crane game. Here they are on their way out the door. Sam is getting good at smiling for the camera...


I know I shouldn't compare my boys, but it's nice to have one that doesn't think this is a great smile for a picture:

The not-so-tired face

Last night Benji told Jordan he knew he was tired because of what his face looked like and because he was yawning. This is the face Jordan made to prove to Benji he wasn't tired.

Also, it's funny to hear a 3 year old say, "Yeah! I'm so happy we have the internet again!" This is why Jordan is so happy to have the internet back:(Blimp videos on You Tube)

I need a trim...can you tell!?

Ummmm...maybe I shouldn't post this picture. Buuuut what the heck, we're all friends, right!?? Well, I found this lovely mega-split end in my hair today! Seriously there are 10 splits there. What. The. Freak.P.S. There is also a piece of lint on my hair...it's not a spider web or something. I don't neglect my hair that much. :)

Oh, and my hands aren't that red in real life. Benji was wondering why I was wearing red gloves in this picture. I'm not.

I"M BAAAAAACK!

We haven't had the internet for three weeks and I am so happy to be back! I have a lot of blogging to do, but I also have like 12 TV shows to catch up on Hulu. I think Hulu is going to win tonight.
