Good intentions

Today was going to be a great day. I woke up with every intention to pamper myself a little and to actually take the time to get ready. I feel bad for my husband when he comes home to frumpy me, to be honest. So today I was going to use the good shampoo, I was going to wear "going out in public" clothes, I was going to actually shave my legs, I was going to wear makeup and use one of those hair styling products I know I have somewhere. It was going to be a great day.

After relaxing in the bath for about 3 minutes Jordan entered the bathroom with his mouth full of black licorice and spit it out in my bath water then triumphantly shouted, "I spit it all out!"

So, I clean up the sticky toddler, the sticky tub, and by that time I needed to feed Sam and get Jordan a snack. After Sam was sleeping and Jordan was happily playing basketball again I stepped in the shower.

I was in the shower for about two minutes when Sam started crying. I peeked on him to make sure he was safe, then got back in the shower. Sam's crying quickly turned to wailing, then to screeching, then to crying so hard it sounded like he was choking. So, I rinsed off, put on the sweat pants and baggy shirt, put my hair up and comforted my baby. Now it is 10:00 and I am giving up on getting ready. At least I used the good shampoo.

No wonder there are so many talk shows that do mommy make-overs!

Only in my dreams.....

I must be a lot more clever in my dreams because I invented a new phrase. It's called bikini tank. It's when someone tops off your tank with gas. They "top" it off before it gets to the "bottom" (get it, a bikini has a top and bottom?) Feel free to start using the phrase....because I know you want to....

How to use in a sentence:

"We better bikini tank our car while we are in St. George, you know how expensive gas is in California!"

"Don't worry about filling up the car, I bikini tanked it earlier."

Social Butterfly

Sam has started smiling and "talking" more this week. I love his goofy toothless grins and I act like a goon to get him to smile at me. I've been trying to get one good picture of him smiling and it has been so frustrating!!

I am either too slow with the shot and end up with a "slightly amused" look on his face.
Or because I'm too fast it isn't in focus (or focused on the couch).
And once I ended up with this masterpiece....

It's hilarious....

but it doesn't look like Sam.....

nothing like him.....

But get ready to laugh anyway.......

Time out

Jordan stepped on one of my hair brushes today then picked it up and told it, "never, never hurt. Never, never hit. Time out!"

Hungry Face

This is what I call "hungry face" and I love it. Sometimes it makes the night time feedings worth it. The best part is how he grunts while making this face and how he tries to eat anything that grazes his cheek. He becomes frantic and crazy and it's so cute and funny to me.

Graduation

I'm on the phone right now waiting to make an appointment and it's taking forever. So I don't feel like I'm wasting my time I'm going to post graduation pictures. I've been meaning to do this since, well, graduation, but I've never found the time to do it. So here it goes. I posted all of these pictures on Facebook, so many of you have already seen them...

This was such a fun weekend. We were happy that Benji's parents, grandparents, his sister and family, and my dad and sister were able to make it to the big event. We went to church in the morning, had an awesome Chinese dinner in the afternoon and I made this sign for Benji. We had to leave early so we could save seats and then we patiently waited for everything to begin...
some of us waited more patiently than others....
some of us just slept...
luckily Jake had some chips to keep Jordan happy.
Then it was time for everything to begin. I waited and waited to get a picture of Benji walking by. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough with my camera...
Since we were sitting so far away, it was nice that we could see Benji once in awhile on the screen!
Then he got his diploma. Congrats Doctor Hadfield!
Then it was time to celebrate!
Yea Daddy!
Good job Benji! We know you worked your butt off for this! And just so you know you look pretty hot in a graduation cap.

Whoa! Where did this come from!?

Traveling must be good for brothers because suddenly Jordan loves Sam. Maybe it was all the time he spent with his cousins. Whatever happened it's a great change. Today when Sam started crying Jordan said, "it's okay Sam!" then he turned to me and said, "he's just tired." So, here is the first picture of Jordan and Sam together alone! I just have to add that Sam's head was on Jordan's shoulder, but by the time I took the picture it was where it is in the picture, then by the time I got to him he was slumped over in a little ball...so the moment didn't last long! :)

A man, a little man, and a baby that looks like an old man

I guess the title says it all. I love these guys!

Say Cheese

This picture was so hard to take! I had to hold my heavy camera above my head and try and get Sam to look at me instead of it. It's not in focus, but here is his first documented smile. His smiles melt my heart.

Moby Wrap

So I had to show off my awesome baby carrier. Don't pay attention to my hideous appearance, but rather look how snug and cute my baby looks in the amazing wrap. With Jordan I had a few different carriers, but they were almost impossible to comfortably hold a newborn because they didn't hold the head. So even though I was wearing a carrier to be able to have my hands free I would still have to hold his head so it wouldn't flop about. This one is just a long piece of fabric that you wrap and tie around your body. It is wonderfully comfortable for me and the baby. I can just tuck Sam's little head in fabric and he sleeps while I do chores, shop, or go for walks. The best part is it doesn't hurt my back or hips like the different carriers I have used. Also, you can wrap it a dozen or so different ways so you can use it for a newborn or a one year old. I love it because Sam is so cuddly that he hates to be put down, so I can hold him and do other things as well. I don't know how I would go shopping without this thing...shopping carts weren't designed to hold a toddler and newborn baby AND groceries.

Here is Moby Wrap's website, but I have a friend who made hers and it works just the same for a lot less money!

Cozy Jordy

I put Jordan down for his nap and when I went to check on him 20 minutes later this is what I found...He had been so quiet for those 20 minutes so I asked him what he was doing and he responded, "cozy Jordan!" What a funny kid.

This is him showing me his new "fuzzy hair"

Even with a dirty face he is a handsome boy.

One month

My baby is one month old today. Wow, time flies! He has been such a sweet, easy going baby. He loves to be held, in fact, he only cries when he's hungry or wants to be held. Jordan is getting more affectionate towards Sam, but if Sam starts crying Jordan starts "crying" too and says, "move Sam!"
It looks like we'll have another chunky boy, look at those cheeks! I'm so lucky I get to kiss those squishy cheeks all day! :)

You're Welcome!!

Yesterday I made a rice, chicken and broccoli casserole for lunch. It wasn't anything special, but in the middle of the meal my sweet toddler said, "Thanks, it's good!" What a sweetheart!

Hairy Hadfields

Benji wanted Jordan to grow a rockin' blonde curly mullet just in time for demolition derby season in Utah, but I'm a party pooper and this is about as close as our son will get to having a mullet. I will be cutting his hair within the next few days...

It looks like we'll have another curly headed boy. This is Sam right out of the bath showing off his super cute curls.
Oh, and showing off his double chin.

P.S. I have tons of pictures from graduation and the few days leading up to the big event and I will get them posted soon! We are sure proud of Benji and all his hard work. Congrats Doctor Hadfield!

Dental Prom

Benji's class had a formal banquet (I liked calling it Prom) last week at beautiful Mission Inn in Riverside. The food was good, it was fun to get dressed up and it was so nice to get out of the house without the kids for a few hours!

These were a few pictures taken before we left. The best part of these pictures is the neglected little boy in the window behind us.
Now for the best one.....
Sorry ladies, this handsome man is taken!
