Goodbye tree

Last week Rocky Mountain Power company informed me (with a scary guy with huge eyes) that our tree in our backyard was too close to the power lines and they had to cut it down. I don't know why they've put up with it for the past 60 years and now decided to cut it down, but in any event they told me it was urgent and had to be done. We had to sign papers or end up in court...blah, blah, blah. So today they came over bright and early with their chainsaws and glaring eyes and malicious laughter and cut down our lovely honey locust tree. (Okay, okay they were nice guys...)

I planned on taking pictures of my boys by the tree before it was ripped from our lives, but I forgot. When they started setting up I took a few pictures from my kitchen because I didn't want to get in their way, and then I figured, what the heck? They're in our yard, cutting our tree down, they can wait a few minutes while I take some pictures of Sam by the tree. (Jordan was busy. His words, not mine.)
Then the work began

The workers got such a kick out of Sam, they kept pointing and laughing as he pounded on the window and yelled.
I got a big kick out of Jordan as he said things like, "Oh no! Don't cut down my tree." and "that's my really good tree," and "my dad likes that tree!"

I think these are the guys that are going to miss the tree the most.

And now all that's left of our tree

Now, I'm usually one that looks on the bright side of things, and honestly, as sad as I am to see the tree go at least they took it before we got attached to it and formed memories with it--picnics in the shade, climbing in the branches, Jordan's first fall from a tree and first broken arm (kidding). Benji is sad he won't be able to put up his hammock, but now we have a nice view of the beautiful mountains and we have a lot of space to play catch and run.

Can we have a campfire in honor of your fallen tree?

Sad......I liked that tree! I know, a little strange, but I liked it. I get too attached.

Oh NO!! All that wonderful shade...gone.

But now you get a great view of the "B"!

Benji can still lay his hammock on the ground. Not as far to fall.
