So, I've finally decided to start on my front room. I haven't done anything to it since we moved in and I'm ready to make it mine. I'm using this room as my inspiration...I never thought I would want to paint a room yellow, but I'm going to do it! I'm also going to paint my furniture white. Seriously. When I tell people that they usually get a grossed out look on their face, but I really am serious, I'm painting the furniture. (And you can't stop me, Bwahahahahaha...)
Anyway, that's beside the point, the real reason I'm here is I am having a heck of a time finding yellow throw pillows and drapes. So, I need to know where to find them. Keeping in mind I have already been to Target, Walmart, Kohls, Ross, TJ Maxx, Shopko, Home Depot, Lowes and Hobby Lobby.
Where do you shop for home decor? Has anyone ever bought yellow accents before and where in the world did you get them?
Better yet, does anyone know how to sew? I'll pay you to make me throw pillows and drapes with the material that I buy. :)
Better than that previous "better yet" does anyone want to teach me how to sew?

I'm not sure how fabric oriented this is but you culd try Tai Pan Trading in Layton, they have cute decorating stuff. I admire your ambition to have white furniture and at least two little boy.
Look through the clearance/sale tab on PotteryBarn.com I only look there when it's end of season stuff because once in awhile there is something really awesome at 75% off. Otherwise, it's too pricey for me. A couple weeks ago there were tons of outdoor throw pillows and seat covers on clearance.
Can't help you in the sewing dept. I bought a used sewing machine this spring and decided that I suck at it :)
But . . . when you find someone, or when YOU learn how - let me know. I need to find someone to make a zebra print cover for Katey's LovSac.
So excited to see your finished product!!!
I think you ought to go find some material you like and make your own pillows. AND if you just want some easy straight curtains those you could make too! Good luck! I LOVE this room!!
Totally, totally cheap idea... I used cloth napkins to make my throw pillows. They're already cut in squares so there's no measuring involved, you just sew and put a pillow inside. So easy! And cheap! I found my napkins at tjmaxx. I've also used dish towels (you need to make sure it's the right material though).
Also, (I hope I'm not being so annoying...) I recently found a great website (allthingsthrifty.com) that has a lot of great decorating ideas. She paints a lot of her furniture and I just redid my kitchen table and chairs using her "technique" and they turned out great! She glazes all her stuff and it really makes the furniture look store bought rather than just done at home.
I love all your home decor, by the way!
IKEA has some awesome pillows, and a great selection of inexpensive fabric that you could turn into anything you want.
I've also seen some pretty awesome pillow makeovers involving stencils and spray paint. You use a ready-made pillow, so no sewing is required.
Do you have a sewing machine? The hardest part of sewing those things would be knowing how to work the machine; pillow-sewing is just about as easy as it gets.
Love the inspiration room-- I've got a yellow living room too!
