Stupid smoke detector.

The other day I was playing upstairs with the kids when my cell phone started ringing downstairs. I ran to answer it only to find a thick blanket of smoke covering my entire downstairs! It smelled strongly of wax candles, but I know I didn't have a candle burning, so I checked the stove, to find it off, I checked the bathroom, where I had been straightening my hair, to find all appliances turned off. Then I realized the smoke was coming from my dishwasher! I opened it, to find this stupid thing melted and smoking on the coil on the bottom...

The thing that really ticks me off, is my smoke detector is working and has batteries in it, and didn't go off. I don't know what would have happened if my phone didn't ring.
