My American Idol

So you might not be able to tell with these pictures, but Benji resembles Kris Allen from American Idol. They have very similar smiles and face shapes. Now I just need to find out if Kris has a class 3 malocclusion (under bite) like Benji.

Another Birthday Blimp!

Jordan received some money for his birthday so today we went to the store to pick out a toy. It doesn't happen very often that Jordan gets brand new toys so I was just as excited as he was! We headed down the toy aisle and Jordan pointed to something and said, "Ohhhhh big blimp! Big ABC blimp!" I thought he was pointing to a car, but after getting on his level I looked up and there really was a blimp! He was so excited! It only took two minutes in the toy aisle and he already had his birthday present picked out! It wasn't very much money either so he also got some ABC blocks, which he picked out himself as well. We came home and he crashed the blimp everywhere and built bounce houses with his blocks.

He loves his new blimp so much he even took his nap with it....

Piglet

So Jordan loves the birthday slide show I made and asks to watch the "baby movie" almost everyday. He also loves Winnie the Pooh and with the sluggish pregnant state I've been in lately he watches that movie a lot as well.

Anyway, every time he sees this picture during the slide show he gets way excited and says, "piglet!" I thought it was pretty funny and cute, but now I think it's hilarious after I just looked at a picture of piglet who is sporting a very similar onesie to baby Jordan!

The Blimp Cake

This year for Jordan's birthday I wanted to make a cake that looked like something he loved. I wanted to make a waterfall cake because I think it's so funny that he loves them so much, but I couldn't figure out how to make a cool looking waterfall cake. So I went to the next funny obsession--blimps. Since we went to the beach for his birthday I didn't make it on his birthday and then we all got sick, so he just barely got his birthday cake today.

I was so excited how the cake was looking and then I went to write the stupid words. I was using a decorating tip that was WAY too big and I ran out of room. I had to scrape some of the words off so the rest of the frosting got all lumpy and uneven. Oh well, I think it still turned out okay. Jordan was SO excited for the cake so it made it worth it. It's all he's been talking about.
So we sang to Jordan and I cut him a piece to eat. He went to dig in with his hands and I guess he didn't like getting dirty because he asked me to wash his fingers then asked for a fork. How old is this kid!?

Happy Beach Day to you!

Jordan was lucky enough to spend his second birthday at Newport beach. It was a hot day (in the 100s!), but we still spent about four hours playing in the sand and water. Jordan had a blast! I put tons of sunscreen on him, but I missed the skin right above his swimming suit on his back. The poor kid got a little burned and I felt awful. We put "green cream" (aloe) on his back everyday and he seems to be fine now. He has a pretty funny tan now.

Jordan loved playing in these puddles left behind from the high tide. They were pretty deep in some places, and they were perfect temperature since they had been warmed by the sun. Jordan loves the water, but hates the waves, so these were perfect!

The hot sun was very nice at the beach, but made for some scorching sand. Jordan had to wear shoes everywhere.

Jordan found this hole in the sand and was giving it hugs. :)

This is why Jordan can't go out in the water. If a wave, even a small wave, touches him he gives up and falls in the water. After this fall he came and told me all about the "icky salty water"

My handsome 2 year old. (With lots of sand on his face!)

Making sand waterfalls.

I think one of the most rewarding things about being a parent is when your child does something or says something that you have taught them. Lately we've been working on asking nicely. Jordan already has been saying please, but we started teaching him how to ask by saying "may I"and (the hard part) not whining while asking. Today when I went to get him up from his nap he was already standing up in his crib. The first thing he said to me was, "may I please play basketball?" It was so sweet! He was probably a little surprised at how excited I was!!

What's in a name?

When I asked Jordan what his goldfish's name is he answered without hesitation, "Orange D." I was interested in why he chose that name. Then I looked in the water....

Jordan's first two years

Yesterday was Jordan's 2nd birthday. We spent the whole day at the beach--pictures will be coming. Until then here is a little video of Jordan's first two years. Watch my newborn baby grow up to a little man right before your eyes! Happy Birthday Jordan!! WE LOVE YOU!!

Two Years Ago Today....

...at 6:00 am I went to the hospital to be induced. Jordan didn't come two years ago, he was actually born on the 20th (26 hours later!) via c-section.I'm happy in this picture because it's only about 5 hours into the whole process. Poor naive little Melissa! :) P.S. Did my face get that swollen this pregnancy? Please say NO!!! Haha.

Waterlogged

Little did we know that when we named Jordan after a river the boy would develop an intense fascination with waterfalls. That just happens to be a cute coincidence. He is a unique youngster, and we love it! After all, can you think of another toddler obsessed with waterfalls?

Benji has had five knee surgeries in his life which has left quite a large scar down his knee. Today he asked Jordan what it was and Jordan said, "knee waterfall!"

This week Jordan finished his first art project.....on my cabinets. He has never liked coloring, drawing, painting, or doing any art project. Boy, was I just pleased as punch that he decided to start on my white cupboards with ball point pen. When I brought him in to have a talk he got way excited before I could say anything and said, "Jordy draw WATERFALLS!" (or as he says it, "Doughy draw WATCH-IT-WALLS!") He was so proud of his artwork!

My little old man

I have been sick for a few days and I guess Jordan caught the cold I have because this morning he has had zero energy. He asked to take a nap right after he ate breakfast so he took a ten minute power nap on my shoulder. After waking up and trying to play some basketball he gave up again and asked to take a snooze in my bed (yes, he really used the word snooze). He was in my bed for a few minutes and then pointing to the TV said, "I want news." News!? Really? What a funny kid!

Show your chompers

For some reason Jordan thinks his chompers are on his chin. Every night when Benji brushes his teeth Jordan wants his "chompers" brushed as well, which means he gets a good chin brush!
Just to prove it, here is Jordan pointing after I asked where his chompers are. It may look like he's pointing to his mouth to where his actual chompers are located, but when I asked him where his teeth are he actually pointed inside his mouth.

Who's your daddy?

I was looking through old pictures of Benji and saw Jordan staring up at me when I looked at this one. I'm glad he's starting to look more like his dad!! I think you can figure it out, but Benji is the little boy with blonde curly hair on the left. Cute!!

Turn Out

Every Saturday Jordan gets to go on an outing with Benji, we call them turn outs. It's something that Benji did with his dad. The rules are simple:

1. The child gets to choose where they go.
2. No distractions (cell phone, radio, etc.)

We kind of cheat though because Jordan isn't quite old enough to tell us where he wants to go. He still has fun though, and I think Benji has done a good job choosing places that Jordan would have chosen himself. Eventually Jordan will take turns going out on turn outs with his siblings, but for now he gets to have every Saturday with his daddy. Last Saturday Jordan was lucky enough to go to a baseball game with Benji. Jordan loved it! They sat right behind the dugout and had fun cheering, talking to the mascot, dancing, and eating french fries! Woooo!! Jordan was quite a ham and had every person in the crowd in the palm of his hand (one guy gave him a foul ball he caught!)
Jordan in his cute baseball jersey before the game.

This is why you can't tell Jordan to smile for the camera! I have to ask him look at me if I want a normal picture.

Another one. What a cheeser!!

Benji and Jordan saying good-bye to mom. Poor mom had to stay home and take a relaxing bath, catch up on some TV shows on-line and go to bed early. Poor mom! :)

We have some cute videos of Jordan at the game and a few other turn-outs that I want to put on the computer. They will be coming shortly.

Easter Egg Hunt

We had a very lovely and relaxing Easter Sunday. After Jordan's nap he enjoyed his very first egg hunt. He did pretty well until he figured out there was candy inside and then he didn't care about finding the rest. I eventually had to hold his basket for him and guide him around the yard.

I wish I would have combed his bed head hair and fixed his tag. Oh well, it's more real this way! :)

Jordan discovered the chocolate!

Jordan got some fun sports side walk chalk in his Easter basket. He loved coloring the blimp I drew for him.

Happy Easter! Hope everyone had a great day.

Bedtime Stories

Benji tells Jordan three stories every night before bed time. Benji always asks Jordan what he wants the story to be about and Jordan will tell him. Usually he asks for "waterfall Jessie" and "green waterfall pirates" (which are pretty strange requests by themselves) but tonight he got all dramatic and concerned and with a furrowed brow said, "Fire. Careful. Mommy, please please please."

My hidden talent

I can keep 10 cent goldfish alive for a long time. Jordan's first fish lived 7 months and the fish he has now we've had since the beginning of February. I don't know how I'm doing it, but I sure feel special.

Tattoo

One morning last week Jordan woke up extremely grumpy. I tried playing different games with him, singing different songs, acting goofy, and ignoring him. Nothing seemed to make him happier until I drew a picture on each of his palms. He asked for a blimp on one and a kite on the other. He suddenly was in a great mood and flew and crashed the blimp and kite all over the house. Since then he asks for a new one everyday. I tried to get a picture of him holding his hands out in front of him, but he didn't understand. It was quite a struggle to get these two pictures, so hopefully you get the idea.
Every time I draw on his hands we have to have a talk about how only mommy can draw on Jordan's hands. I just know this little tradition is going to come back and bite me in the behind one of these days. (Doesn't every mom of a toddler have a permanent marker story?) Hopefully it wont come back to haunt me in 18 years or so with a grown Jordie coming home with a blimp tattoo somewhere on his body!! :)

Puzzlefest 2009

Benji and I have always wondered which one of us is faster at putting together a puzzle. So for date night we went and picked up two matching puzzles and had a race. We stayed up past 2 am on Friday night and finally finished this morning. When one of us needed a break the other person had to stop as well, so we were always doing the puzzle at the same time. I'm happy to say I WON!!

Benji getting started.

This was the only picture of me. Of course it was after I washed my face and at about 1 am. BLAH!

Hey look! A chair.

Poor Benji, he only had about 20 pieces left.

This is my nerdiest post ever. That's okay. I'll admit it, I'm a nerd.
