Jordan isn't so afraid of balloons anymore. He reminds me of that fact everyday, "I'm not scared of balloons anymore mom! Balloons are FUN!" I love that he is facing his fear and getting over it, but he still gets a little nervous when balloons are around. I love that he pretends to be brave instead of screaming like he used to, he is getting so big.
Anyway, I only mention that because I found it so funny yesterday when Sam cried at the store because I didn't get him one of the balloons they had hanging by the meat counter as decoration. I found it even funnier that as Sam was pointing to those balloons he said one of his first words, "ba-boo!"
Same guy. New look! Sam loved getting his hair cut. He quietly ate his sucker and then he just sat mesmerized...I think he loved how it felt. Hey look! I'm in this one! I'm never in pictures! :)
He kept smiling at himself in the mirror. This is as close as I could get to capturing it.
It was very windy when I was taking these last pictures and Sam was drooling like crazy, check out the awesome flying drool in most of them.He liked feeling the wind.
I can't believe my sweet, cuddly, newborn bundle is turning one on Saturday. Good thing he's still sweet and cuddly. We don't have any major plans for his birthday, he'll probably get a cake and a present. If things work out like I planned today he might get a haircut. He also might start walking any day now, but that's unlikely since he prefers to be carried. He might also start talking, but that's unlikely because he prefers to make animal noises. :)
I was looking through old photos when I came across this little gem. I had a nice chuckle because of it.He just had chocolate cake, what could possibly have made him that mad? Probably mom's dumb camera, but that's just a guess.
Here are a few Jordan stories. I know there are a lot more, I hope I can remember them all so I can write them down to read and laugh at later.
Our stove top is broken so I basically have to plan dinner at 8 am everyday because I have to make sure I get stuff in the crock pot in time, or have time to get to the store for other things. I never realized how much I rely on my silly stove top to cook dinner. Anyway, I forgot yesterday to get something prepared so when Benji got home I told him I was going to run to the store for a frozen pizza. Jordan said, "Not a frozen pizza! It will make me cold like it is." I tried to tell him we would warm it up in the oven, but he didn't believe me.
Lately when there is a strong smell in the air (smoke, skunk or baking cookies, for example) Jordan will ask if we can 'hear that smell'.
Now that it's warming up a little Benji has been going fishing more. Since it's only a five minute drive to the stream he fishes at he usually will go on his day off. Before Benji leaves Jordan will yell, "Don't fall in the river, Dad!"
Jordan likes to tell a story where I buy a helicopter and he buys a blimp and we fly together to go look at a waterfall. As he was telling the story one day he added, "and you will look over at me in the blimp and you will recotize (recognize) me!"
Jordan did his business on the potty the other day, and when he got down to flush he said, "look mommy, the poops are hugging!"
We went to Salt Lake last week and when we were about 15 minutes away from home Jordan let us know he had to pee. We told him to wait because we were almost home. About 5 minutes later he said he needed to go and started whining and grunting (it was getting serious), since we had just gotten off the freeway (and there wasn't a gas station or store in sight) Benji pulled over so Jordan could pee outside so we could avoid an accident. Jordan was SO mad about having to go in the bushes. He was bawling the whole time saying he didn't want to pee on the plants. I feel bad because I think it really traumatized him. As we were driving home he was still crying loudly about having to pee on the plants. At one point he yelled, "I got the dirt all wet!" When we got home and I was getting him dressed for bed he waved him finger in my face and said, "Don't you ever ever ever do that again!!"
Sam was making monkey noises forever and then as soon as he saw the camera he stopped, I guess that's how it always goes. I still got one out of him at the end.
It was Jordan's third birthday yesterday and we had so much fun. We first started out with a pancake breakfast and Jordan got a trike from Benji and me. I didn't get any pictures of him on his trike so I'll have to post those later. Anyway, I wanted to do something during the day that was relatively cheap (or free), and something that Jordan would love. I decided we should go park hopping. We ended up going to 5 different parks in Brigham City in the morning and afternoon. It was such a beautiful sunny day and we had a lot of fun testing out Brigham City's parks. Jordan did a lot of running, and climbing through tubes, and going down many different slides, and sometimes deciding not to go on slides, he climbed on a lot of different things, and pretended to play basketball, and even jumped in a few puddles. He also got very very dirty. If you look at his hands closely in this picture, you'll know what I'm talking about. After each park we had a face scrub and hand wash--seriously he was constantly covered in dirt, but that probably means he had fun!! Oh, at one point he even said he was "in a shower." :) I think he had a lot of fun! Since it was hard to keep Sam out of the wood chips, and keep those wood chips out of his mouth, he got to climb through tubes and tunnels too. And that made him very happy. At the last park of the day I put something together. I noticed Jordan didn't want to go in the tube slides. I figured out he thought he was too big for them and he thought he would get stuck, I figured this out after he would tell me the tube slides were for Sammy. So I wanted to prove to him we wouldn't get stuck so I loaded Sam on one leg, Jordan on the other, and the camera in the middle, and we all went down a tube slide--here is the only proof I have.... We then met Benji for lunch at McDonald's. Jordan met Millsap there, but judging by the look on his face, I don't know how excited he was. He was excited for his very own Happy Meal though....okay, maybe just the toy. I love the play place at this McDonald's because they have a bunch of big soft toys the boys can climb on, so Sam has lots of fun too. When you climb on the instruments they make sound, this was Sam's priceless reaction to the music. Jordan played a lot of basketball with his dad while we were there. and once again, had a lot of fun! The last park of the day was Pioneer Park. It's Jordan's favorite because it has a 'waterfall' so we spent a lot of time looking at it. This was my first attempt at taking a picture of the boys looking at me.... so I decided to take a picture of them looking at the waterfall and I think it turned out way better. It's my favorite picture of the day. Anyway, I think both boys enjoyed their day. Later we had a small party with cupcakes and pizza. I'll post those pictures later.
